Audrey MacLean, a molecular biology and biochemistry major, secured her second CSC Academic All-America honor. She was named a first-team selection after being a third-team honoree a season ago. The rising senior is the first track and field/cross country athlete to receive the national accolade twice.

The runner excelled on the national stage, joining Dorcas DenHartog ‘87 as the second Middlebury athlete to win the NCAA Cross Country individual title. MacLean crossed the finish line with a time of 20:16.8, nearly 49 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher. The Panther took home the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) National and Regional Athlete of the Year alongside a First-Team All-American selection. MacLean paced the field at the NCAA Mideast Region (21:21.6) and NESCAC (20:47.8) Championships. She was named the conference’s most outstanding performer and an All-NESCAC First Team honoree for the third consecutive year.

Over three seasons, MacLean has logged six All-American honors across both sports and is an eight-time regional selection. She also has garnered seven All-NESCAC accolades. 

Off the track and trails, MacLean was named the USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete of the Year in the fall of 2025 and is a four-time USTFCCCA and NESCAC All-Academic team selection. She is a college scholar and will serve as the incoming co-president of Middlebury’s Nutrition Outreach and Mentoring (NOM). 

During the past two years, MacLean has worked on a project focused on Alzheimer’s disease in the neuroscience lab at Karolinska Institute in Sweden and as a research assistant for a clinical trial using Ayurvedic medicine for breast cancer patients. She is also a volunteer with Girls on the Run and at Porter Medical Center.
