Middlebury's Noelle Ruschil (Katonah, N.Y.) of the softball team has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in their sport and in the classroom.

Ruschil graduated last week with a dual major in environmental studies and biology, owning a 3.55 grade point average.

She had a record-breaking senior season and becomes the first player in program history to receive the prestigious honor, landing a spot on the second team. The NESCAC Player of the Year earned NFCA All-Region First-Team laurels, and was tabbed to the conference's first team. Ruschil smashed three school records in her final year, leading the conference with 15 home runs and 48 runs batted in (RBI). She set program marks with her single-season homers and RBI, while also moving into first on Middlebury's career list with 20 home runs. Ruschil also topped the conference in batting average (.484), on-base plus slugging (1.673) and slugging percentage (1.108). Ruschil's slugging percentage also leads Division III. She tied for second in the NESCAC with 35 runs scored, while ranking among the leaders with 45 hits. She garnered NESCAC Player of the Week laurels twice this season.

Ruschil was honored at Middlebury's Senior Department Awards' Ceremony with the Murphy Roberts '17 Memorial Award. The honor is given to a senior athlete who inspires teammates with the selflessness, enthusiasm and team spirit demonstrated by Murphy Roberts.
