Middlebury College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) provides a voice for student-athletes within the Middlebury College community, represents the interests of student-athletes to the administration, undertakes projects that benefit all members of the community and fosters a positive student-athlete image.

Community Supper is run through the Charter House Coalition and provides free meals to members of the greater Middlebury Community on Friday nights. Hosting a Community Supper involves purchasing, cooking and serving food to more than 200 people. SAAC and individual teams sponsor several of these events each year.

Founded in 1965, Helping Overcome Poverty Effects (HOPE) assists Addison County’s low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs. Middlebury’s SAAC regularly supports HOPE through sponsoring food drives throughout the year.

Mental health and wellness are incredibly important for the Middlebury College Athletics Department. In partnership with the NCAA and NESCAC SAAC organizations, the Panthers partake in many initiatives throughout the year. In past years, Middlebury supported Hope Happens Here, a student-athlete run mental health awareness foundation dedicated to fighting the negative stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

SAAC takes part in several mentoring initiatives, highlighted by Community Friends. This organization, founded in 1960 by the Counseling Services of Addison County, is a mentoring program that pairs Middlebury students with elementary school children in the greater Addison County community. Mentors and mentees meet one-on-one weekly throughout the year, with matches lasting up to four years, allowing students and children to form a unique bond.

SAAC partners with the Middlebury Special Olympics Club to connect student-athletes and individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities (Special Olympics athletes) in Addison County through sport, promoting respect and inclusion throughout campus.
