Erin Nicholas, a member of the field hockey and lacrosse teams, is a senior who boasts a 3.83 grade point average (GPA) and majored in molecular biology/biochemistry. She is a seven-time member of the All-NESCAC Academic Team.Â
Nicholas was the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Player of the Year for each of the past three seasons. She helped lead the Panthers to a perfect 22-0 record en route to their fourth-straight NCAA Championship. A three-time NFHCA All-American, Nicholas is the first NESCAC player to be tabbed rookie of the year and then win three-consecutive player of the year honors. She led the conference in goals (28), game-winning goals (9) and points (64) and was selected as the 2021 NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. She was also named a finalist for field hockey for THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.
In lacrosse, Nicholas is a two-time All-American and this spring played a key role in Middlebury's second NCAA Championship in the last four years. She was tabbed both an all-region and All-NESCAC First-Team selection, ranking among the team leaders in draw controls (54), points (37), goals (30), caused turnovers (26) and groundballs (28).
Nicholas was also named the Division III Honda Athlete of the Year.Â
