Victoria Hoyt, a member of the Class of 1989, is the most decorated squash player in school history. In a sport with teams from all three NCAA divisions, she earned All-American honors in each of her four seasons with the Panthers. Hoyt was ranked among the top-14 collegiate players, while her teams were also ranked in the top 14 for all four years. She is widely known for revolutionizing the sport of squash at Middlebury.
Upon graduation, she went on to play for the U.S. Women’s National Team from 1990–1997 and represented her country in the 1995 Pan American Games in Colombia. Hoyt played professionally for a number of years, regularly maintaining a top-10 ranking in the U.S., while moving up as high as 35th in the world.
Hoyt was also a member of the lacrosse team for three years, where her teams went 27-4 with a NIAC Championship in 1988. She finished her career with 48 goals, 30 of them coming during her final season.
As a senior, Hoyt won the College’s A. Bayard Russ ’66 Memorial Athletic Award, given to the school’s best two-sport athletes.
