Stephen Hauschka, a member of the Class of 2007, excelled in football and was a member of the lacrosse program.

Hauschka was a five-time All-NESCAC selection as a placekicker and a punter and became the first player in conference history to earn first-team laurels for both positions in the same season (2006). Hauschka earned All-ECAC First-Team honors, was a CoSIDA District I Academic All-America selection, and was a semifinalist for the prestigious Lou Groza Award.

Hauschka still ranks in the top five places in program history in several statistical categories. He is first in field goals in a game (three), a season (10), and a career (20). Hauschka also holds the mark for the most punts in a game downed inside the 20-yard line (six).

During his two years on the lacrosse team, the squad went a combined 30-6, advancing to the 2005 NCAA Championship and the 2006 NCAA Quarterfinals.

After graduating from Middlebury, Hauschka played at North Carolina State University, where he converted 25 for 25 PATs and went 16-for-18 in field goals.

He kicked professionally for several organizations, including the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills. He won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 as a Seahawk and was also a 2016 alternate for the NFL Pro Bowl. Hauschka broke the NFL record for most consecutive field goals made from 50-plus yards (13). He holds the Bills’ record for the most field goals from 50-plus yards (seven), and the Seahawks’ records for most field goals (175), 50-plus-yard field goals (15), and consecutive games scoring (94). He announced his retirement from football on December 4, 2020.
