Hall of Fame
Stephen Hauschka, a member of the Class of 2007, excelled in football and was a member of the lacrosse program.
Â
Hauschka was a five-time All-NESCAC selection as a placekicker and a punter and became the first player in conference history to earn first-team laurels for both positions in the same season (2006). Hauschka earned All-ECAC First-Team honors, was a CoSIDA District I Academic All-America selection, and was a semifinalist for the prestigious Lou Groza Award.
Â
Hauschka still ranks in the top five places in program history in several statistical categories. He is first in field goals in a game (three), a season (10), and a career (20). Hauschka also holds the mark for the most punts in a game downed inside the 20-yard line (six).Â
Â
During his two years on the lacrosse team, the squad went a combined 30-6, advancing to the 2005 NCAA Championship and the 2006 NCAA Quarterfinals.Â
Â
After graduating from Middlebury, Hauschka played at North Carolina State University, where he converted 25 for 25 PATs and went 16-for-18 in field goals.
Â
He kicked professionally for several organizations, including the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills. He won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 as a Seahawk and was also a 2016 alternate for the NFL Pro Bowl. Hauschka broke the NFL record for most consecutive field goals made from 50-plus yards (13). He holds the Bills’ record for the most field goals from 50-plus yards (seven), and the Seahawks’ records for most field goals (175), 50-plus-yard field goals (15), and consecutive games scoring (94). He announced his retirement from football on December 4, 2020.
