Edie MacAusland Mabrey, a member of the Class of 1976, was a standout in field hockey, while also competing in alpine skiing, ice hockey, and lacrosse throughout her four years. 
 
MacAusland helped the field hockey squad record three straight undefeated campaigns. A captain in her senior season, MacAusland was named the team’s most valuable player, while also being tabbed to the Division A team for the second consecutive year. MacAusland was also on the alpine ski and lacrosse teams for three seasons, and in her senior year played ice hockey.
 
A high honor graduate, MacAusland was the cowinner of the Mary Dunning Thwing Award for creative writing and earned the “Moose” Provoncha Award for best athlete. 
 
MacAusland was an assistant in the Middlebury Admissions Office the year after graduating while also serving as an assistant field hockey coach during that time. MacAusland trained with the USA Field Hockey team from 1977 to 1980 leading up to the Olympics. 
 
In 1979, she became the head field hockey and assistant tennis coach at Harvard, holding those positions until 1984. MacAusland later served as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach for three years, helping the squad capture the 1990 NCAA title.
