Ryan Armstrong, a member of the Class of 2006, was a standout on the baseball team while also playing football during his time at Middlebury.
Â
Armstrong’s name is sprinkled throughout the baseball record books, still holding the program marks for highest batting average in a single season (.495) and for a career (.415). The Panther ranks in the top 10 spots on three single-season and four career lists and is tied for second with the most doubles in a game (three). At the time of graduation, Armstrong’s eight career triples were tied for the top spot in the program record book.
Â
A captain during his senior season, Armstrong was instrumental in leading Middlebury to the program’s first NESCAC Championship. He was named an All-Conference selection twice and was tabbed to the 2006 NCAA Tournament All-Region Team and the NEIBA Division III Second Team.Â
Â
In his final season on the gridiron, Armstrong paced the football squad with 14 punt returns and was second in receptions with 27 for 220 yards.
