Mike Baumann, a member of the Class of 1992, was one of the most prolific scorers on the men’s basketball team.
Baumann remains second on Middlebury’s all-time scoring list with 1,733 points in his career, while also topping the charts in career free throws with 437. He ranks in the top 10 spots in single-season points twice, as well as the highest scoring average in a season (1991). An all-around player, Baumann is still among the top 10 places in career field goals, rebounds, and blocks, while sporting the third-highest scoring average (19.0) all time.
During the 1988–89 season, Baumann was named the Vermont Rookie of the Year and was tabbed to the NESCAC All-Rookie squad. He concluded his senior campaign with a spot on the ECAC All-Tournament Team, while being lauded with ECAC Weekly Honors on three occasions. Baumann was also named a Vermont All-Star, NESCAC All-Star, ECAC Division III All-Star, and NABC Northeast District All-Star in his final season.
