Nathan Edmunds, a member of the Class of 2006, excelled in tennis.
Edmunds was a four-time All-American, earning the award three straight years in singles and once in doubles. He was a three-time All-NESCAC First Team honoree in singles and was named the 2004 NESCAC Player of the Year. Edmunds was a 2005 ITA Cup Singles semifinalist and a 2006 NCAA Singles semifinalist.
He helped Middlebury capture the program’s first national championship in 2004, while also leading the team to NCAA runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2006. Edmunds was a part of three NESCAC Championships during his time as a player.
In 2006, Edmunds won the prestigious ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship, presented annually to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular, and tennis achievements.
During his stint as an assistant coach at Middlebury, Edmunds helped guide the team to a NESCAC Championship and a third-place finish at NCAAs.
