Pete Bostwick, a member of the Class of 1958, was a three-sport standout at Middlebury in golf, ice hockey, and tennis.

In tennis, he was the Panthers’ top singles player for four years, going undefeated in singles and doubles during his first two seasons, when the team had a combined record of 17-1. As a junior, he reached the quarterfinal round of the New England Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament. He served as the captain his senior year.

On the ice, he was named to the All-East team in 1958 and was the fourth-leading scorer in the East with 56 points. He was a four-year right winger who served as an assistant captain during his final year. Bostwick continued playing hockey after college, practicing with the New York Islanders and trying out for the 1960 U.S. Olympic team.

When not playing tennis, Bostwick competed for the golf team whenever his schedule allowed, winning the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship his senior year. He also won the school’s annual tennis and golf championships all four years.

He was awarded the College’s John P. Stabile Memorial Trophy, given to the athlete at the College who best exemplifies the Middlebury spirit.
