Box Score The Middlebury field hockey came from a two-goal deficit to earn a 3-2 road win at ninth-ranked Skidmore (7-3) on Tuesday. The fourth-ranked Panthers (7-1) saw Bridget Instrum assist on all three goals in the victory. The loss snapped a 21-game home win streak for the Thoroughbreds, dating back to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Middlebury in 2012. The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Tufts at 1:30.
After a scoreless first 30 minutes, Skidmore got on the board when Sam Skott lifted a shot past Panther goalie Emily Knapp. The shot came from along the end line, just outside the cage for her 15th goal of the season at 31:44.
Dani DeGregory gave the Thoroughbreds a 2-0 lead when she deflected a long pass from Pauline Searles that caught the top of the cage for her Division III leading 19th goal of the season at 41:44.
Middlebury got one back when Pam Schulman placed a shot past charging Skidmore goalie Amy Beck at 49:27.
Catherine Fowler tied the game on a deflection from Instrum at the 63:40 mark. The goal was Fowler's sixth of the season, tying her with Lauren Berestecky for the team lead.
Instrum then set up the game-winner when Hollis Perticone converted her pass in front with just 2:46 remaining.
Middlebury had a 19-9 shot advantage and 9-7 edge in corners. Beck tied her career-high with 10 saves, while Knapp had two saves for the Panthers.
