Reid Berrien scored the game-tying goal in the second half and the game-winner with 1:09 left in overtime to lead the visiting Middlebury to a 2-1 win over the Trinity in the NESCAC field hockey regular season finale this afternoon. The Panthers will host Bates in a NESCAC first-round match-up on Sunday at 1:00.

Trinity opened the scoring late in the first half when Christine Mwaturura smacked a loose ball into the Middlebury cage during a scramble in front of the goal. Mwatarura narrowly misfired over the cage on another first half scoring opportunity for Trinity, while Courtney Bergh held the Panthers scoreless in the first half for a 1-0 Bantam lead.

In the second half, Berrien tied the score with an assist by Channing Weymouth 10:04 in to the second half and the game remained tied for the final 25 minutes of regulation. Both Bergh and Panther goalie Meghan McGillen were stellar in overtime with a total of 14 saves between them. Berrien finally got the best of Bergh with a shot from the right side from junior attacker Claire Edelen off a penalty corner. Bergh finished with 14 saves for the game and McGillen stopped eight shots for Middlebury.
