Middlebury Opens New England DIII Championships

Middlebury opened the 2020 New England Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday on the New Balance Track in Virtue Field House. The Panthers boasted three of top-10 finishes and a school record on the first day of the event, while the meet concludes on Saturday, with competition getting started at 10:30 a.m. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.

Middlebury got off to a fast start in the meet, as the distance medley relay finished second with a time of 11:54.85. The team consisted of Katie Glew, Gretchen McGrath, Meg Wilson and Cassie Kearney and the quartet earned All-New England Region honors. Williams on the race with a clocking of 11:52.31.

The Panthers were fifth in the 4x200 relay, as the team of Ellie Greenberg, Grace Desmond, Lizzie Walkes and Eva Kaiden combined for a time of 1:45.55. That time broke the school record of 1:46.82 set in 2017.

In the 5,000 meters, Talia Ruxin finished in the top 10, placing ninth with a time of 18:07.88.
