Lilly Wurtz and Grace Kaelber opened the Middlebury women's track and field team's slate at the NCAA Championships on Thursday. The event is being held at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Wurtz hurled the discus 43.08 meters to slot 13th in the discipline.
• In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Kaelber logged a clocking of 11:07.40 to finish 22nd.

NOTES

• The Panther women's squad makes its sixth consecutive and 27th overall appearance on the national stage.

Lily Haskins-Vaughan will compete in the high jump on Friday at 3:00 p.m. EST, while Claire Palmer readies for the 5,000 on Saturday.
