Claire Palmer of the Middlebury women's track and field team competed in the 5,000-meter run on the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Palmer mounted an impressive comeback during her first spring event on the national stage. Slotted in 17th with four laps to go, she overtook six runners to grab 11th place with a clocking of 16:47.88.
- The rookie used splits of 1:20.48 and 1:17.52 over the final 800 meters to jump three spots.
NOTES
- Palmer completes a season sweep of All-American honors after garnering the laurel during the cross country and indoor track and field campaigns.
The Panthers earned a fourth-place finish at the NESCAC Championships and sent a quartet of athletes to the NCAA outdoor event.
