Panthers Secure Spots in Finals During Day Two of NCAA Meet

Three members of the Middlebury track & field teams earned spots in their respective event finals on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The three-day event is taking place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The third and final day of action is slated to begin tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m.

In the women's 800-meter preliminaries, Cassie Kearney finished second in her heat and fifth overall with a mark of 2:12.54. She will run in Saturday's final at 1:50 p.m. Meg Wilson also competed in the event, finishing 16th with a time of 2:15.19.

During Friday's preliminary run, Jimmy Martinez posted a time of 48.23 in the 400-meter dash, good for ninth place and the last spot in Saturday's final at 1:20 p.m.

A few events later, Nathan Hill raced across the finish line with a time of 1:52.27 in the 800 meters, good for ninth place. A 2018 All-American in the event, he secured a position in Saturday's final race at 2:00 p.m.
