Middlebury finished in fourth place at the 2019 New England Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Bowdoin. Middlebury earned 57 points among the 26 scoring programs, finishing behind Williams (140), MIT (87.5) and Tufts (67). The team returns to action next Saturday when it takes part in the Tufts Last-Chance Meet. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
Highlighting the weekend's efforts for the Panthers was Rory Kelly. She finished second in the 3,000 meters with a school-record time of 9:47.28. The mark eclipses the time of 9:58.71 set by Abigail Nadler in 2016.
Cassie Kearney led a trio of Panthers to All-New England accolades in the 800 meters. Kearney was the runner-up with a time of 2:13.36, while Meg Wilson was fifth (2:15.97) and Anna Willig finished seventh (2:17.61).
Additional individual top-eight finishes came from Ava O'Mara, who was fourth in the 600 meters (1:37.64), while teammate Lucy Lang was right behind in fifth (1:38.56). Tasha Greene ran to fifth place in the mile run (5:02.24), while Nadler was eighth (5:07.34). Katelyn Pease was sixth in the 1,000 meters (2:59.20), while Gretchen McGrath crossed the line eighth in the 400 meters (59.51)
The distance medley relay squad of Nadler, McGrath, Kearney and Kelly was third (11:54.82), while the 4x200-meter relay team of Julia Munz, O'Mara, Alex Cook and McGrath placed fifth (1:47.21). Matching that finish was the 4x400-meter relay quartet of Lang, O'Mara, Munz and McGrath in 4:01.77.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Katie Glew, Greene, Wilson and Pease tallied All-New England laurels by finishing sixth (9:36.83).
