The Middlebury indoor track and field teams took top honors at the Middlebury Invitational on the New Balance Foundation Track in Virtue Field House. The women recorded 165 points to pace six teams, followed by Williams (150) and St. Lawrence (115.50). The men scored 188.50 points in a meet featuring seven teams, edging runner-up St. Lawrence (173). The Panthers return to action next weekend, traveling to the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday.
For the women, Rory Kelly was a double winner for the Panthers. She led the field to the line during both the mile run (5:05.84) and the 3,000-meter run (10:17.59). Another individual victory on the track came from Meg Wilson, who won the 800 meters (2:18.80).
The 4x400-meter team of Lucy Lang, Ava O'Mara, Kate Holly and Gretchen McGrath won with a time of 4:09.74, winning the event by 9.87 seconds.
In field events, Helene Rowland won the shot put for the third-consecutive meet with a mark of 38'3.50".
Middlebury earned runner-up finishes in a pair of events. Catherine Walker earned second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.85), while the 4x200-meter relay team of Alex Cook, Julia McClain, Ellie Greenberg and Jaqueline Topping crossed the line in 1:50.77.
On the men's side, the Panthers recorded seven event wins. Jimmy Martinez won the 200 meters (22.43), Sawyer Tadono was victorious during the 500 meters (1:08.63), while Connor Montgomery won the 1,000 meters (2:39.40).
Will Meyer paced the field during the mile run (4:23.92), while Jonathan Perlman claimed the 3,000 meters (8:30.85) by 8.04 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Arden Coleman, Matthew Durst, William Robertson and Martinez ran away with the event victory in 3:22.78, winning by 11.46 seconds.
Off the track, Minhaj Rahman won the weight throw for the third-straight week with a heave of 59'2.75".
