Panthers Post Numerous Event Wins at Amherst Spring Fling

The Middlebury track and field teams competed in the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday, tallying numerous events victories. The Panther women finished fourth out of seven teams with 72 points, while the men were also fourth out of seven schools with 49 points. The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they host the Panther Spring Invitational.

On the women's side, Middlebury earned three event victories. Abigail Nadler won the 5,000-meter run (17:47.34), while teammate Read Allen was second (18:12.81). The Panthers finished in the top-three spots during the shot put, with Helene Rowland (38'0"), Lauren Boyd (34'4") and Kiera Dowell (32'5") leading the field. The third title was posted by Devon Player who won the javelin (126'1"), while Julia Lothrop was third (116'2") and Rebecca Gorman finished in fourth (107'9").

Runner-up efforts came from Lucy Lang in the 800-meter run (2:23.66) and Tasha Greene during the 1,500-meter run (4:51.47). Additional top-five performances were tallied by Rowland who was third in the discus (97'9"), while Emily Ray was right behind in fourth (96'10").

Chima Dimgba crossed the line in third place during the 100-meter hurdles (16.81), while Ellie Greenberg was fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.00). Alex Cook posted two fifth-place showings in the 200-meter dash (26.80) and the long jump (15'5").

In the men's competition, the Panthers claimed three event crowns. Nathan Hill led the field to the finish line during the 1,500-meter run (4:00.40), while Theodore Henderson won the 5,000-meter run (15:23.44). Off the track, Minhaj Rahman tossed the hammer to a winning distance of 169'11".

Other top-five efforts came from Masa Sakamoto in the 400-meter hurdles (59.26, third), while the trio of Brenden Edwards (132'9"), Zack Sieb (118'3"), and Rahman (117'7") were second, third and fourth in the discus.

Nathaniel Klein wound up third in the shot put (43'3"), Henry Fleming was fourth in the 5,000-meter run (15:38.79), while Will Meyer stopped the clock in fifth during the 1,500-meter run (4:04.00).
