Trio of Track & Field Athletes Compete at Silfen Invitational

Three members of the Middlebury track & field teams competed at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday after the Panther Spring Invitational was cancelled due to weather. Kiera Dowell and Rebecca Gorman took part in the heptathlon for the women, while the men were represented by Jonathan Fisher in the decathlon. The Panthers return to action on Friday at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton and the Williams Invitational on Saturday.

On the women's side, Dowell finished in 10th place in the heptathlon with 3,425 points. Highlighting her meet was a runner-up finish in the shot put with a toss of 32'2.75". Gorman scored 2,930 points to wind up in 13th place, including winning the javelin with a throw of 114'2".

For the men, Fisher racked up 5,479 points in the decathlon, good for third place out of five competitors and just missed second by one point. He won the 400-meter run in 52.39 and the high jump with a mark of 6'0.75", while finishing second in three other events during the two-day event.
