Panthers Open Season at Dartmouth Relays

The Middlebury men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2018 schedule Sunday at the 49th Dartmouth Relays. The Panthers sent a few members of each team to the meet, as several top-20 efforts were recorded in an event that featured all three NCAA divisions, as well as several club programs. Both teams return to action Saturday, hosting the Middlebury Winter Classic at 11:00 a.m. on the New Balance Track in the Virtue Field House.

During the women's competition, Chima Dimgba ran to an 11th-place finish on the track in the 60-meter hurdles (9.61).

In the field events, Helene Rowland tossed the shot put 37'2.5" for a 14th-place finish, while Lauren Boyd was 19th with a mark of 34'7.75". Emily Ray also tallied a top-20 distance in the weight throw with a mark of 40'6.75" for 17th place.

Tim DeLorenzo highlighted the day for the men, finishing seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 41'0.5". Other top-10 efforts off the track came from Nathaniel Durfee in the triple jump (10th, 38'1.25") and John Natalone during the pole vault (10th, 13'11.25").

On the track, Nicholas Hendrix raced to a 12th-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.23 seconds. Jackson Bock was 20th in the 400-meter dash (53.31), while Jonathan Fisher wound up 18th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.09) and 20th in the long jump (19'1.5").
