The Middlebury men's and women's indoor track and field teams each claimed top honors at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday, as the Panthers boasted numerous first-place performances among the six competing schools. Middlebury's women earned 157.50 points, placing ahead of Rensselaer (121.50) and Franklin Pierce (106), while the men finished with 148 points. Placing second in the men's scoring was Rensselaer (136), while Franklin Pierce (101) was third. Both Middlebury teams return to action Saturday, hosting the Middlebury Winterfell at 11:30 a.m. on the New Balance Track in the Virtue Field House.

In the field events, Minhaj Rahman won the 35-pound weight throw with a heave of 49'4.5".

On the women's side, the Panthers shined in the 60HH, claiming the top three spots. Chima Dimgba was first in 9.45 seconds, followed closely by Kisha Kalra (9.62) and Catherine Walker (9.94). Kate McCluskey topped the field in the 400 with a time of 57.97 seconds and was the only runner to finish under a minute, while Anna Willig had a winning effort of 1:20.80 in the 500.

Kreager Taber cleared a height of 10'6" in the pole vault to place first, while Helene Rowland had a toss of 40'7.75" in the shot put to win the event by more than a foot.

Jimmy Martinez was a double winner for the Panthers, starting with his victory in the 500-meter run with time of 1:04.87. He also was also a member of the winning 4x400 relay team, which boasted a top time of 3:24.69. Martinez was joined on the relay team by Arden Coleman, Matthew Durst and Cameron Mackintosh. Durst added a second victory in the 400, with a clocking of 52.38 seconds.

Sawyer Tadona paced the field of 18 runners in the 1,000, finishing in 2:38.10, while Michael Pallozzi ran a time of 8.64 seconds to win the 60-meter high hurdles.
