The Middlebury track and field teams concluded their annual spring trip to California taking part in the California Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC San Diego. The Panther women finished fifth out of 16 teams with 78.5 points that featured teams from all three NCAA divisions, while the men tied for sixth of 17 and accumulated 59 points. The Panthers return to action Saturday when they host the Panther Spring Invitational.

On the women's side, Abigail Nadler stopped the clock with the second-fastest time in the 5,000-meter run (17:57.24). A trio of fourth-place efforts came from Talia Ruxin in the 5,000-meter run (18:04.00), Basia Osborne during the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.58) and Cate Skinner in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:16.23).

Another top-five individual effort was recorded by Anna Willig in the 800-meter run (2:12.76).

The 4x100-meter relay team of Marisa Edmondson, Natalie Cheung, Maddie Pronovost and Elizabeth Walkes claimed the third-fastest time in the event of 49.25, while the 4x400-meter relay was fifth in 4:01.77.

During field events, Devon Player tossed the javelin to a runner-up effort of 134'3", while Kristin Kimble was fifth in the high jump (5'2.25").

In men's competition, Nathan Hill raced to third place in the 800-meter run (1:54.85), while James Mulliken was fifth during the 400-meter run (50.06). The 4x100-meter relay of Noah Wagner-Carlberg, Nicholas Hendrix, Jackson Barnett and Adam Markun crossed the line in fifth (43.91).

Off the track, John Natalone cleared the bar in third place during the pole vault (15'1"), while Alfred Hurley was fifth in the javelin (175'7").
