Five members of the Middlebury track & field teams earned All-ECAC honors and Alex Nichols eclipsed his own school record in the 400-meter dash while competing at the ECAC Championship hosted by Westfield State. The Panthers were hoping to improve their chances for entry into the upcoming NCAA Championship next week at Wartburg. The top-eight finishers in each event garnered All-ECAC honors.
During the women's competition on the track, a pair of Panthers earned All-ECAC laurels in the 800-meter event. Alexandra Morris recorded a runner-up effort in 2:11.80, while Lauren Bougioukas stopped the clock with the fourth-best time (2:12.31).
Away from the track, Devon Player finished in the top-eight spots for the second-consecutive year with a third-place toss of 133'5" in the javelin throw. Last spring, Player wound up sixth at 131'3".
In the men's 400, Nichols posted a runner-up, school-record and All-ECAC time of 48.30, eclipsing his mark of 48.32 set on April 30 during the NESCAC Championship. Jimmy Martinez was right behind Nichols in third with a time of 48.48.
