Two school records and five event victories by the Middlebury women's track & field team highlighted the two-day Division III New England Women's Track & Field Championship inside the Virtue Field House on the New Balance Foundation Track. The Panther women racked up 82 team points with 31 teams scoring, finishing behind team champion MIT (123.50) and Williams (93.83). All-New England Division III honors are awarded to the top-eight placers in each event. The Panthers return to the track next Friday when they take part in the Open New England Championships hosted by Boston University.
Individual school-record performances came from Abigail Nadler and Maddie Pronovost. Nadler crossed the line as the runner up with a record time of 10:08.38 in the 3,000-meter run, while Pronovost amassed 2,974 points during Friday's five pentathlon events for a sixth-place finish.
Other individual event wins came from Alexandra Morris with a new facility record in the 400-meter dash (57.23), while Adrian Walsh claimed the 5,000-meter run by more than three seconds with a time of 17:35.15.
The Panther women raced to three relay wins during Saturday's action. The 4x400 relay team of Jackie Kearney, Paige Fernandez, Lucy Lang and Morris crossed the line in 3:58.65, winning the event by nearly four seconds. The 4x800 relay of Claire Gomba, Isabella Alfaro, Robin Vincent and Lauren Bougioukas beat the competition to the finish line in 9:33.66, while the distance medley relay quartet of Alexis Jakubowski, Kate McCluskey, Nicole Schachman and Nadler were victorious with a mark of 12:11.91.
Additional top-three efforts came from Lang in the 600-meter run (third, 1:36.72) and Bougioukas during the 800-meter run (third, 2:16.98).
