Senior Alexandra Morris broke her own school record in the 400-meter run as members of the Middlebury women's indoor track and field team competed at the 2016 David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday. The meet featured programs from all NCAA Divisions with no team scoring.
Morris' time of 56.43 seconds topped her previous mark of 56.97 seconds set in 2014. Overall, she won her respective heat and placed 20th out of 196 runners. Kate McCluskey also competed in the race and finished with a time of 59.99.
Paige Fernandez had a strong performance in the 500 meters, winning her heat in a time of 1:18.83, while placing 22nd overall. Basia Osborne claimed 28th in the same event with a time of 1:19.61.
Robin Vincent clocked a time of 5:02.80 in the mile, placing second in her heat and 50th in the large field of 246 runners.
In the 800-meter run, Lauren Bougioukas boasted a time of 2:16.21 to place second in her heat and was 58th overall.
On Saturday, the distance medley relay quartet of Nicole Schachman, Morris, Bougioukas and Abigail Nadler recorded a time of 11:54.43 on the banked track, good for 10th place.
