The Middlebury men's and women's indoor track teams opened the 2015 schedule by participating in the Dartmouth Relays on Sunday held inside the Leverone Field House. The Panthers will return to action next Friday when they take part in the NYC Gotham Cup.
During the men's competition, Taylor Shortsleeve tied for sixth in the high jump and set a program record clearing the bar at 6'4.25". His clearance of the bar betters the previous mark of 6'4" set by Frazier Stowers back in 2007. Shortsleeve also finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.58 seconds for one point.
Scoring the other point for the men was Alex Nichols, who crossed the line sixth in the 400-meter dash in 50.67.
In women's action, Hannah Blackburn scored in two events for the Panthers. She leapt to a fourth-place distance of 17'3.5" racking up four points in the long jump, and she finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.67 for one point.
The 4x200 relay team of Lauren Henry, Blackburn, Kisha Kalra and Natalie Cheung raced home to a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:51.53.
