The Middlebury College track & field teams took part in the Army Six Way Team Meet on Saturday that included several Division I schools. The Panthers will return to action next Saturday when compete in the Albany Invitational.
During men's action, the Panthers recorded three event wins and many top-three finishes. Wilder Schaaf tied with Army's Dylan Chamberlen for the win in the 1500-meter run with times of 3:54.23. Alex Nichols was victorious the 400m dash in 49.28, just ahead of teammate Peter Hetzler's runner-up time of 49.62. The duo teamed up with Bryan Holtzman and Fritz Parker for the win in the 4x400-meter relay, crossing the line in 3:19.09, more than four seconds ahead of the next team.
Other top-three performances were recorded by Nathaniel Sans in the 5000m run (2nd, 15:14.73), Taylor Shortsleeve in the high jump (T-3rd, 6'2.75”) and Holtzman in the 200m dash (3rd, 22.55).
On the women's side, Lauren Pincus won the javelin toss with a distance of 132'9.25”. Another event victory came from Alison Maxwell, who stopped the clock first in the 1500m run in a time of 4:37.96, over four seconds ahead of next competitor.
Notable top-three efforts were posted by Hannah Blackburn, who was second in the long jump (17'11”), while Kathleen Rominger was also second in the 5000m run (18:10.44), just ahead of Lotie Hedden in third (18:27.14).
