The Middlebury indoor track teams competed at the 2014 Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. The unscored meet featured numerous nationally-ranked programs from across the northeast. The Panthers will return to the track next weekend when they take part in the Division III New England Championships.

The women recorded a pair of event victories. Laura Strom cleared the bar at 5'5.75" in the high jump, while the distance medley relay quartet of Alison Maxwell, Alexandra Morris, Abigail Pohl and Erzie Nagy crossed the line first with a time of 12:09.67.

Other top-eight performances came from Maxwell with a third-place finish in the 1000-meter run (3:04.90), while Sasha Whittle wasn't far behind in eighth (3:10.83). Nagy and Morris were fourth and sixth in the 800-meter run with times of 2:21.40 and 2:22.50. Also on the track, Alyssa Taylor and Summer Spillane were seventh in the 5000-meter run (19:01.88) and the mile run (5:15.03), respectively.  Additionally, Hannah Blackburn finished fifth with a leap of 16'8" in the long jump.

On the men's side, Kevin Wood led the way with a time of 15:14.14, good for third in the 5000-meter run. Wilder Schaaf was fourth in the 800m (1:57.55), while Peter Hetzler was fifth in the 400m (51.32). Sam Klockenkemper sprinted to the line in fifth during the 1000m (2:34.75) just ahead of Sam Cartwright in sixth (2:35.15), while Lucas Carpinello was eighth in the 600m (1:24.63).

A few members of the squad took part in the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. During the men's heptathlon, Conor Simons finished 15th with 4,013 points, while Jeremy Carter was 16th racking up 3,802. In the women's pentathlon, Maddie Provonost tallied 2,495 points for seventh.
