Middlebury women's indoor track & field captain Laura Strom won the high jump event with the NCAA Division III top height thus far this winter leading the women's team to a sixth-place finish (19 points) out of 14 teams Sunday during the 45th Dartmouth Relays. The men's team also competed and placed ninth (six points) out of 14 squads. Both teams will return to the track and travel just up the road to compete at Vermont Friday at 4:30 p.m.

During the women's high jump, Strom competed against 23 other participants, including many from Division I schools, and leapt to a height of 5'8.5". That clearance tied her with Dartmouth's Kaitlin Whitehorn, but Strom won the event based on fewer misses at the particular height and garnered her team 10 points.

Additionally, Alexandra Morris turned in the nation's third-fastest time thus far in the 400-meter dash in 58.99 for eight team points. During the 4x200-meter relay, the quartet of Madison Goodstein, Sara Sobolewski, Emma McGuirk and Paige Fernandez raced to the line for an eighth-place finish time of 1:52.44.

Other notable performances were turned in by Day Robins (9th, 15'11.75") and Chelsea Montello (10th, 15'11.50") in the long jump, as well as McGuirk (8th, 33'2"), Hannah Blackburn and Erin Rea (T-10th, 32'3.75") in the triple jump.

In men's action during field events, Jason McCallum recorded a fourth-place showing with fewer misses during the pole vault competition, clearing the bar at 14'1.25". James Lynch glided through the air with a distance of 39'11.5", good for 10th in the triple jump.

On the track, Alex Nichols started his collegiate career crossing the line in sixth place during the 400-meter dash in a time of 50.97. The team of Jake Wood, Conor Simons, Brandon Cushman and Nichols sprinted to the line with a seventh-place time of 3:31.10 during the 4x400-meter relay.
