After two days of preliminary action at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, three Middlebury athletes have earned spots in Saturday's finals. Seniors Jack Davies, Juliet Ryan-Davis, and Addie Tousley will all race in the finals of their respective events.
On Thursday, Davies easily qualified to the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals, posting the top qualifying time. He recorded a 9:03.49, which was over a second and a half faster than the second place finisher. Davies will now race in the finals on Saturday at 2:10pm central time.
On Friday, Ryan-Davis secured a spot in the 800-meter run finals, by posting a time of 2:09.12. She finished second overall in her heat, earning automatic qualification to the finals. Her event will be run at 4:20pm central time.
Tousley will race in the 5,000-meter run finals, to be held at 5:30pm central. No preliminaries were held in the event. Also competing at the championships for Middlebury was junior Kevin Chu. He raced in the 110-meter hurdles on Friday, posting a time of 15.01 to finish 19th overall.
The event is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Live video and live results will be available for all of Saturday's finals action.
