Indoor Track Opens Winter Season

The Middlebury College indoor track teams opened up their season with a meet at Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers were in action against several teams, including Division I competition from Boston College and Dartmouth.

Junior Brian Holtzman (Sudbury, Mass.) got his season off to a great start, breaking the school record with a time of 7.13 in the 60 meter race, good for fourth place. Also scoring for the men was first-year athlete Alec Drobac (Atherton, Calif.), who placed fifth in the long jump (21'.5”). The men's 4x400 relay team comprised of seniors Louis Cornacchione (Bear Creek Township, Pa.) and Patrick Rooney (Skaneateles, N.Y.), junior Sam Craft (Hamden, Conn.) and sophomore Fritz Parker (Arlington, Va.) finished third with a time of 3:27.77.

Scoring twice for the women was senior Emily Dodge (Auburn, Maine). Dodge finished fourth in both the 60 meter hurdles (9.43) and the triple jump (34'3”). Senior Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.) earned a fourth place finish in the high jump (5'.5”), while first-year racer Alexandra Morris (London, U.K.) was fourth in the 400 (61.37).
