The Middlebury College track and field team finished strong on the final day of competition at the NCAA Championships at the Fritz B. Burns Stadium on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripts in California. The Panther men finished tied for eighth among 82 teams scoring, while the women were tied for 15th among 80 scoring squads. Four different athletes earned All-American honors in six events on the final day of competition.
Margo Cramer earned All-American honors in two different events on Saturday. The senior was .52 seconds from becoming an NCAA Champion in the 1,500, placing second overall with a time of 4:26.18. She also turned in a great finish in the 800, finishing fifth in the race in 2:08.71, a new school record.
Junior Jack Davies was second only to the NCAA Champion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing the event in second place in 8:54.61, breaking his own school mark. Also earning All-American status (for the second time at the championships) was senior Michael Schmidt, who placed fourth in the 5,000 with a time of 14:25.24
Middlebury's lone field athlete at the NCAA's on Saturday was Lauren Pincus. The sophomore was one spot away from All-American status with a ninth place finish in the javelin (137'6").
Junior Addie Tousley raced for the Panthers in the 5,000, placing 13th overall in the event with a time of 17:32.99.
