Track Teams Opens UVM's New Facility

The Middlebury College track and field teams were a part of the opening meet at the University of Vermont's new facility. The Catamounts hosted the event at the brand new Frank H. Livak Track & Field Facility. Sophomore Jason McCallum (San Diego, Calif.) picked up a pair of wins, capturing the 100 meters (10.95) and the long jump (21'10.5”).

Also earning wins for the men were sophomore Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) in the 400 (51.58), senior Silas Wong (Needham, Mass) in the triple jump (43'8.75”) and sophomore Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.) in the 1,500 (4:13.86). Sophomore Nate Sans (Princeton, Mass.) earned a win in the 3,000 (8:59.44), sophomore Kevin Chu (Burlington, Vt.) took home the 110 hurdles (15.12) in his hometown, while junior Louis Cornacchione (Bear Creek Township, Pa.)  was victorious in the 400 hurdles (56.86).

Three different women won events at the meet, including sophomore Lottie Hedden (Washington, D.C.), who captured the 800 in 2:27.04. Also earning victories were first-year racer Sarah Guth (Wilton, Conn.) in the 1,500 (4:53.46) and her classmate Maria Stern (Springfield, Vt.) in the shot put (32'6.6”).
