Indoor Track Competes At UVM

The Panther indoor track teams returned to action on Friday just 45 minutes north at the University of Vermont. Several Panthers turned in solid performances, with the men's team winning five events on the day.

Junior Louis Cornacchione (Bear Creek Township, Pa.) won the 500 for the men, finishing with a time of 1:09.26. Sophomore Wilder Schaaf (Ashland, Ore.) captured the 3,000 meters (8:44.78), followed closely by junior Anthony Lee (Plainsboro, N.Y.) in second place (8:44.91). Sophomore Kevin Chu (Burlington, Vt.) defeated two teammates to win the 55 hurdles (8.00), while rookie Duncan Levear (Tigard, Ore.) cleared 14'1.25” to win the pole vault. The men's 4x400 picked up a win, as Cornacchione, rookie David Parker (Arlington, Va.) and sophomores Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) and Sam Craft (Hamden, Conn.) finished with a time of 3:31.37.

Senior Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) earned two second place finishes at the meet, doing so in both the 55 meters (7.8) and 55 meter hurdles (8.81). Junior Juliet Ryan-Davis (Newton, Mass.) did the same, placing second in the 5,000 (1:18.04) and the 4x400 relay.
