Indoor Track Opens Season

The Middlebury College indoor track teams opened up their season with a meet at Dartmouth on Sunday. Six different athletes qualified for New England's, as did a pair of relay teams in a meet comprised of teams from all divisions as well as Canada.

The following Middlebury women qualified at the meet: sophomore Rebecca Fanning (Ipswich, Mass.) - 800 (2:23.08), first-year athletes Sarah O'Brien (Wellesley, Mass.) - 800 (2:25.24), Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.) - high jump (5'25"), Emily Dodge (Auburn, Maine) - triple jump (35'2") and long jump (15'11"), along with sophomore Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) - 55m hurdles (9.03). The 4x200 relay team of Martinez, Dodge and rookies Christine Walsh (Bethesda, Md.) and Jessica Berry (Danbury, Conn.) qualified with a time of 1:56.89. Also earning a spot at N.E.'s was the 4x400 relay team of Walsh, Berry, O'Brien and Fanning, finishing with a time of 4:23.51. On the men's side, junior Adam Dede (West Chester, Ohio) qualified in the pole vault by clearing 13'6.25".
