Track & Field Races At Albany

4/16/05 - The <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College track and field teams were in action at the Albany Spring Classic on Saturday, with both teams finishing third of 10 teams in the meet with Division I competitors Albany and Syracuse.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Junior Khristoph Becker (Media, Pa.) turned in an impressive performance in the decathlon, as he won the event with 6,645 points to qualify for the NCAA's and set a new Middlebury College record. Also winning on the day was junior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.), who improved on his own NCAA time with a 53.15 effort to win the 400 hurdles. Winning the javelin and qualifying for the NCAA's with a toss of 197'10" was junior Steve Atkinson (Huntingdon, Que.). The other winner on the men's side was sophomore Bobby Marcoux (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), who won the discus with a toss of 133'8".

Senior Sarah Berkowitz (Media, Pa.) won the pole vault event for the women, clearing a height of 10' on the afternoon. The other women's winner was sophomore Shalini Vimal (Lexington, Mass.), who finished with a time of 13:34.87 in the 5,000 meters.
