The Middlebury College track and field teams were in action last week, competing with Division I, II and III schools at the New England Championships. The men placed 19th of 35 teams, while the women were 18th of 33 teams at Northeastern.
Junior Jessica Manzer (Palatine Bridge, N.Y.) placed sixth in the 800 meters, with a personal best time of 2:14.38. Senior Maryanne Porter (W. Roxbury, Mass.) earned a sixth place finish in the 400 hurdles with a season-best time of 1:02.99. Both athletes are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally in these events. First-year thrower Mary Frederickson (Florham Park, N.J.) finished third in the javelin with a toss of 38.85m, a provisional NCAA qualifying effort.
On the men's side, junior Nick Digani (Northfield, Ill.) broke the school record for the fourth time this season with a time of 1:53.13, placing him third overall and qualifying him for nationals.
