The Middlebury College track and field teams were in action again last weekend as they took part in the Williams Relays.
Leading the women was junior Jessica Manzer (Palatine Bridge, N.Y.), who won the 1500 in 4:44.52, while placing second in the 800 with a time of 2:23.40. The other winner on the day was senior Jennifer March (Fairbanks, Ala.) with a toss of 146' in the hammer. Other athletes earning second place finishes were first-year athlete Meira Lifson (Edina, Minn.), who cleared 10' in the pole vault, and classmate Mary Frederickson (Florham Park, N.J.) with a toss of 110'3" in the javelin. Placing second in the 10,000 meters was first-year Erin Oliver (Essex Junction, Vt.), with a solid race.
Winning events for the men's team were junior Nick Digani (Northfield, Ill.) and sophomore Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.). Digani won the 1500 in 4:02.16, while Bright won the 400 in 49.84. Placing second in the pole vault was senior Peter Webb (Chapel Hill, N.C.), clearing 11'6", while sophomore Steve Atkinson (Huntingdon, Que.) threw 160' to place second in the javelin. (results)
