Field Hockey Advances To NESCAC Championship

Middlebury broke open a 1-0 game with three unanswered goals in the second half on its way to a 4-0 win over Colby in the NESCAC semifinals. The Panthers will host the title game on Sunday at noon against the winner of the Williams/Tufts game played later today.

Lauryn Nicasio opened the scoring with 18:25 left in the first half as she drove to the cage from the outside before giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The game remained at 1-0 until the 29:57 mark of the second half when Ashley Pullen scored with a blast from the outside. Nicasio scored her second of the game after a hard crossing pass from Emily Enos to make it a 3-0 game just 7:37 later. Lacey Farrell scored the game's final goal at 8:04 as she flipped a shot over Jamie Enos after a scramble in front of the Colby cage.

Enos ended the game with 17 saves, while Meghan McGillen made eight saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season.
