HIGHLIGHTS
- The only chance from either side in the first 15 minutes came with 11:24 expired when the Blue Jays earned a penalty corner. Middlebury goalie Izzy Redzic saved an initial bouncing shot from the left side by Jenna Halpin, but the rebound came to the stick of An Tran. The midfielder muscled the ball across the crease, connecting with Grace Nockolds on the right post for a tip into the cage to take a 1-0 advantage.
- Johns Hopkins earned a pair of penalty corners early in the second frame. The hosts capitalized on the second opportunity as Halpin ripped a bid from inside the circle that Sophia Albano tipped into the right portion of the net with 2:36 elapsed.
- Middlebury produced a solid chance three minutes later. Emma McNealy sent a blast from eight yards that found space through traffic. Goalie Jessica Lapidus saved the shot with her right pad.
- Shortly after the halftime break, Johns Hopkins manufactured an opportunity 1:31 into the third quarter. Albano blasted a point-blank shot that Redzic batted away with her blocker.Â
- The Panthers attempted to battle back despite being two players down near the midway point of the frame. Following a penalty corner, the Blue Jays pushed it to a 3-0 cushion on a reverse sweep toward the cage by Halpin that Coward deflected into the goal with 9:49 expired.
- Scoring chances were hard to come by in the final stanza. The Panthers passed the ball up the middle of the field before a bid from Megan Fuqua with 8:03 on the clock sailed over the crossbar.
- Middlebury earned two penalty corners with 6:00 left. Emma McCann had a pair of looping shots swatted away by goalie Abby Kilgore's blocker.
- The Panthers pulled Redzic in favor of an extra offensive player with 5:23 remaining, earning a trio of penalty corners. The best chance came with 3:28 left on a blast by Madaket Rzepka from inside the circle, but Kilgore kicked the attempt away for the final 3-0 tally.
