Three Field Hockey Players Earn NFHCA All-Region Recognition

Three members of the Middlebury field hockey team have been selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region II teams. Megan Fuqua and Grace Keefe were first-team selections, while Tessa Herbst earned a second-team nod.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Fuqua (First Team)
    • Fuqua collects her initial all-region honor. 
    • The forward earned All-NESCAC distinction with a spot on the first team.
    • She was a key contributor to the Panther attack, leading the squad with 30 points and 14 goals.  
    • The midfielder had three multi-goal contests, including four scores against then-#3 Babson and during the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in a triumph over Westfield State.
    • Fuqua finished the season with points in three of the last five contests.
    • She had three game-winning tallies, headlined by the go-ahead goal in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over #8 Endicott in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • Keefe (First Team)
    • Keefe tallies her first career all-region accolade.
    • The defender was also named an All-NESCAC First-Team honoree.
    • Keefe finished third in minutes played (1,238) this fall, appearing in all 20 contests with 19 starts.
    • The Panther had two crucial defensive saves that helped seal Middlebury's 2-1 win over then-#6 Bates in the regular season.
    • Keefe contributed on the offensive end, recording 12 points with four goals and four assists.
    • She caps her Middlebury career with 30 points coming from 11 goals and eight assists in 2,223 minutes.
  • Herbst (Second Team)
    • Herbst grabs her inaugural regional honor from the NFHCA.
    • The Panther was tabbed to the All-NESCAC Second Team. 
    • She was a stalwart for the Panther defensive unit, leading the team with 1,336 minutes.  The defender was one of four players to start all 20 matchups.
    • Herbst helped pace a program that led the conference and ranked 14th in Division III in goals against average (0.94) and shut out six opponents.
    • She contributed two assists on the offensive end and was part of a penalty corner unit that ranked second in the nation, securing 11.40 per contest.

The NFHCA will announce the All-American honorees in the coming weeks.
