The Middlebury College indoor track team saw some solid performances from its athletes as they competed at St. Lawrence. Senior Maryanne Porter (W. Roxbury, Mass.) qualified for the Division I and III New England's, as well as the ECAC Championships with a time of 1:20.69 in the 500 meters. Leading the men was sophomore Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.), who turned in solid performances in four events. Bright placed eighth in the 200 (23.51), came in fifth in the 400 (50.99), while taking part in the 4x200 relay team that finished second (1:36.89) and the DMR team that placed fifth (11:04.84). Also on the 4x2 team were first-year runners Neiman Groce (Rutland, Vt.) and Domenick DiDominico (Oceanside, N.Y.), along with junior Anthony Garofano (Colchester, Vt.).
The women's 4x400 relay team of senior Laura Smith (Milford, N.Y.), sophomore Sheena James (Salt Lake City, Utah) and first-year runners Margaret Ray (Gainesville, Fla.) and Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.) placed third in 4:24.32. (results)
