Women's Tennis Doubles Pairs End Season in NCAA Semis

The Middlebury women's tennis doubles pairs of Katherine Hughes and Skylar Schossberger, along with Heather Boehm and Ann Martin Skelly, saw their respective seasons come to an end during NCAA Semifinal matches on Sunday afternoon. Action took place at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

During the first semifinal, Hughes and Schossberger won a back-and-forth opening set against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Catherine Allen and Caroline Cox, 6-4. The Athena pair leveled the match at 1-1, winning a tiebreaker by a 7-4 score. The decisive set saw Allen and Cox win the first four games en route to a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1 victory.

Hughes and Schossberger, who were 2019 Second-Team All-NESCAC honorees, finish the spring with a 20-4 record as a duo.

In the other semifinal, second-seeded Boehm and Skelly claimed the tight first set by a 6-4 score against the CMS team of Sarah Bahsoun and Nicole Tan. The Athena duo evened the match at a set apiece with a 6-1 victory. Bahsoun and Tan advanced to the championship match with a 6-4 win in the decisive set, winning two of the final three games.

Boehm and Skelly, 2019 First-Team All-NESCAC honorees, conclude the season with a 19-4 mark.

Later in the day, the team of Allen and Cox defeated Bahsoun and Tan in three sets during the final by scores of 6-7 (8), 6-1, 6-3 to claim the title.
