Middlebury women's tennis player Elsie Van Wieren has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team. The Panther becomes the fourth player in the program's history to receive the national honor.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS

• Van Wieren is a rising junior and is majoring in molecular biology and biochemistry.
• The Panther logged her first CSC Academic All-District honor.
• She posted a 25-8 mark in singles action, including a 16-4 record in dual matches. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the second consecutive season.
• Van Wieren was selected to compete at the NCAA Individual Championships. Entering as the eighth seed, the Panther defeated two opponents before falling in the quarterfinals. Her effort marked the furthest a Middlebury women's tennis athlete has advanced in the national tournament since 2023.
• She sports a 48-14 record through two seasons and is currently fifth in program history for most singles victories in the last decade.
• In doubles, Van Wieren tallied a 20-7 record with 14 victories during spring action. Alongside doubles partner Anna Lardner, the duo forged 10 wins and an All-NESCAC First Team selection. 
• Entering her third season, Van Wieren has 47 doubles triumphs.
• Off the court, the Panther is a NESCAC All-Academic selection and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete.
• She has been an undergraduate research assistant at the University of Michigan and published a blog through the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) focused on athletic discipline and her emerging research career.

Van Wieren helped the Panthers to a 14-7 mark and a spot in the NCAA Tournament Regional Final. The full list of CSC Academic All-America honorees can be found here.
