Panther Women Conclude Spring Trip With Setback to No. 2 CMS

Fifth-ranked Middlebury concluded its spring trip to California with an 8-1 loss at No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The Panthers (6-1) concluded their spring trip with matches against two top-25 Division III teams and a 4-1 record, including a 5-2 victory against Division I Cal State LA. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday with a 10:00 a.m. NESCAC home match against No. 6 Wesleyan.

The Athenas (16-1) grabbed all three points during doubles play. CMS posted an 8-2 victory in the top spot, followed by an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 and an 8-5 win in the third flight.

In singles action, CMS claimed the first five matches to finish in straight sets. During the last match on the courts, Heather Boehm battled back after losing the first set to Nicole Tan for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 win at No. 2 for the final 8-1 tally.
