Panther Women Post Strong Efforts During NESCAC Championships

The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team remained in eighth place following the second full day of the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship held at Wesleyan University's Natatorium. Williams remained atop the team standings with a total of 1,331 points, while Tufts sits in second place (1,063.5) and Amherst (947) is in third. Middlebury has racked up 524 points with one day of competition remaining.

In the night's initial championship final, the 200 medley relay quartet of Frances VanderMeer, Erin Kelly, Maddie McKean and Audrey Hsi touched the wall in eighth place with a time of 1:46.70.

During individual events, Hannah Wander finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.10, while Kelly was 13th in the same event (1:07.83). Angela Riggins swam to 10th place in the 1,000 freestyle (10:28.51), while Kristin Karpowicz stopped the clock in 11th place during 200 free (1:53.22). Sarah McEachern stopped the clock 16th in the 400 individual medley (4:42.38).

The Panthers will conclude the championship Sunday morning with preliminaries scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., while the finals session will start at 5:30 p.m. with the 1,650 freestyle.
