Women's Tennis Starts Season at Morehouse Invitational

The Middlebury women's tennis team opened its 2018-19 season by taking part in the annual Lindsay Morehouse Invitational hosted by Williams. During the three-day event, individuals from Middlebury, Skidmore and Williams squared off in singles and doubles matches. No individual tournament winner was crowned at the end of the Invitational, as the tournament is a round-robin format.

During the first day, the Panther doubles duo of Christina Puccinelli and Emma Gorman picked up an 8-3 victory.

On day one of singles play Saturday, a pair of Panthers highlighted play with two victories. Gorman and Nora Dahl each picked up two wins, while Ruhi Kamdar, Puccinelli and Emily Bian all tallied one.

The doubles pair of Puccinelli and Gorman earned two wins on Sunday, while the tandem of Dahl and Kumdar was also victorious in matches contested against Skidmore.

At the conclusion of play on Sunday, Puccinelli was given the Lindsay Morehouse Award, given to an upperclassman who showed great character, friendship, hard work and sportsmanship.

The Panthers return to the courts when they take part in the three-day ITA Championships hosted by Williams from September 28-30.
