The Middlebury women's tennis team opened its 2017-18 season by taking part in the annual Lindsay Morehouse Invitational hosted by Williams. During the three-day event, individuals from Middlebury, Wellesley, Skidmore and Williams squared off in singles and doubles matches. No individual tournament winner was crowned at the end of the Invitational, as the tournament is a round-robin format aimed at getting players experience.

During the first day, the Panther doubles duos of Catherine Blazye and Maddi Stow as well as Katherine Hughes and Skylar Schossberger both picked up victories.

On day one of singles play Saturday, four Panthers highlighted play with a pair of victories. Emily Bian, Molly Paradies, Hughes and Schossberger each picked up two wins, while Blazye, Heather Boehm, Stow and Ann Martin Skelly all tallied one. In doubles action, the Panthers dropped three of the four matches to Williams with Bian and Skelly recording the lone win.

Two Panthers claimed singles wins on Sunday with Blazye and Stow needed a third-set superbreaker to earn the triumph. The doubles pairs of Hughes and Schossberger, Blazye and Stow, Paradies and Boehm as well as Bian and Skelly were each victorious in matches against Skidmore.

At the conclusion of play on Sunday, Paradies was given the Lindsay Morehouse Award, given to an upperclassman who showed great character, friendship, hardwork and sportsmanship.

The Panthers return to the courts when they take part in the three-day ITA Championships hosted by Williams from September 29 through October 1.
